Digital guestbook with voice messages for weddings and quinceañeras: how it works

A paper guestbook ends the night with twenty hurried signatures and the same "congratulations" on every line. What a voice guestbook is

It is the audio version of the guestbook: instead of writing on a page, each guest records a few seconds in their own voice from their phone. How it works, step by step

  1. Create the event page. Open HeartMee, add the couple's or the quinceañera's name, the date and a cover photo. The page is ready in minutes with its own QR code. Voice messages come with the Gold plan ($99, one-time per event); Free and Silver collect photos and videos.
  2. Share the link today, not on the day. The page is live from the moment you create it. Send the link by WhatsApp or text to relatives who cannot travel and ask them to record their message from home, in their own time.
  3. Put the QR sign on the tables. Print the sign HeartMee generates from your dashboard and leave one on each table, at the entrance or by the cake. Guests scan it with their phone camera, the page opens in the browser, and they tap "Record a message". Nothing to install, no account.
  4. Guests record and send. The phone asks for microphone permission once. The guest types their name, records, listens back and sends. The message goes straight to your dashboard.
  5. Listen whenever you like. Your dashboard has a "Voice" tab with every message and the name of the person who left it. Play them, mark favorites, and download the original files to keep or hand to your videographer.

Wishes before the event, from far away

Many families have half the guest list on each side of the border. Grandparents who cannot travel, cousins working that weekend, a madrina two states over. Because the event page is live from the day you create it, you can send the link by WhatsApp weeks ahead and ask for a message.

A message that works: "We're collecting voice messages for Sofía. Open this link, tap Record a message, and tell her what you'd say if you were here. Nothing to install." The messages pile up in your dashboard, and on the day you already have the voices of everyone who could not make it.

Ideas for using the messages

  • At the toast. Download two or three messages from relatives who could not come and play them through the venue sound system right before the toast or the father-daughter dance.
  • In the highlight video. Hand the original files to your videographer; a voice message over the footage of the dance with the parents beats any background track.
  • As a gift the morning after. Listening to them slowly on Sunday, hair still half done, is often the sweetest moment of the weekend.

Getting people to actually record

  • Put one line on the sign: "Leave Sofía a voice message: scan and tap Record". Without the instruction most guests only upload photos.
  • Ask the MC to announce it once, during dinner, when everyone is seated with a phone in hand.
  • Short messages come out better. Suggest twenty or thirty seconds; nobody records a speech next to the cake.
  • If the venue signal is poor, guests can record and send later from the same link; the page does not expire that night.

Compared with renting an audio guestbook phone

Renting a retro phone that records messages (services such as After the Tone, checked on September 26, 2026) has become a wedding trend. It looks great and works well at one table, but it means a rental, shipping both ways, and a single handset for the whole party. Frequently asked questions

Do guests need an app to leave a voice message?
No. They scan the QR code with the phone camera, the event page opens in the browser and they record right there. It works on iPhone and Android; the phone asks for microphone permission the first time only.
Can other guests hear the messages?
No. Voice messages are private: only the host hears them, from the dashboard. Photos and videos are shared in the gallery once they clear the automatic check, but the voice messages stay between the person who recorded them and the family hosting the event.
Can family in Mexico record before the event?
Yes. The event page is active from the day you create it, so you can send the link weeks ahead. A grandmother in Guadalajara or a padrino in Houston records from home, and the message is waiting in your dashboard on the day.
How long are the messages kept?
As long as the rest of the gallery, counted from the event date: 30 days on Free, 6 months on Silver and 12 months on Gold, with a month-to-month extension if you want longer. Since voice messages come with Gold, in practice you have 12 months, and you can download the originals at any time.
Does HeartMee have a written guestbook too?
Not today. HeartMee collects photos, videos and, on Gold, voice messages. If you want written wishes as well, a paper book on the gift table is still the simplest option; the HeartMee QR takes care of the voices and the pictures.
